"Dear Everett & Jones without your ribs and links over the years none of this would have been possible." With love Saul Zaentz Saul sent us this note on our 20th Anniversary Will you be watching the Academy Awards Show this Sunday? Here's a funny story one of our favorite long time customers who faithfully came in every week to purchase a slab of our pork ribs with hot sauce, he just wanted the meat, no side dishes. When we saw him coming through the door we would start chopping the slab automatically and he always left a nice tip. No words were needed to be spoken besides hi, bye and thank you. He never changed his order. One day I saw him coming through the door of our San Francisco restaurant on 3rd Street and started to chop his slab. He stopped me and said he wanted to change his order to a rib and link combo instead. You see we might not remember all of our customers name but we do remember your order. I could not remember this customer's name so he was known as the rib/link combo guy. This man had hired the family to cater his company's annual picnic. It was our first time catering a large onsite event. The whole family was excited. The company's name was Fantasy Records and we would go on to cater Fantasy Records picnics for years. Mr. Rib and Link combo's true name is Saul Zaentz. Saul would go on and win best picture and director and pick up three Oscars for films; 1975’s One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, 1984’s Amadeus and 1996's The English Patient. Saul sent us this note on our 20th Anniversary and this autographed photo after winning the Academy Award in 1997. Saul we are holding you to your promise to attend our 40th Anniversary dinner. Your invitation is in the mail.
