Trayvon’s parents, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton. Ms. Fulton did share her reaction to the verdict via Twitter, writing: “Lord during my darkest hour I lean on you. You are all that I have. At the end of the day, GOD is still in control. Thank you all for your prayers and support. I will love you forever Trayvon!!! In the name of Jesus!!!”
I wish my son did not live in Florida. I woke up this morning after an uneasy night wishing my son did not live in Florida. I wish my son was not 6 feet 4 inches living in Florida. I wish my son was not 6 feet 4 inches new to a gated community living in Florida. I wish my son was not 6 feet 4 inches new to a gated community living in Florida where he is not known by all of his neighbors. I wish my son was not 6 feet 4 inches new to a gated community living in Florida where he is not known by all of his neighbors in a stand your ground state. I wish my son was not 6 feet 4 inches new to a gated community living in Florida where he is not known by all of his neighbors in a stand your ground state would call me every night for the rest of my life to let me know he has returned safely home from whatever ordinary outdoor errand he had to do. I wish I did not have to make this wish. I live in Oakland. I wish the Trayvon Martin verdict and the opening of the movie “Fruitvale Station” did not all happen in one weekend. I wish my son would call me.
